Awful support, they just don't care, will not answer any questions to help, not even the most basic questions. Last week my modem failed, at&t installed a new modem and my slingbox no longer would work with the new modem. When the first slingbox av was released it was a great product, easy to set-up, maybe an extra half hour if you ran into a problem. After 90 days you are on your own if you have a problem its 29.95 for each question, I paid the 29.95 and spent 3 days reading slingbox forums, what a waste of time and money. Called tech support I was told it would be 29.95 to fix one problem. I paid the 29.95 and it still doesn't work and they claim the problem was fixed. I'm done with slingbox, they are trying to make there money off tech support now, I believe there forced firmware updates are meant to cause problems that you must pay 29.95 to have fixed. I think somebody needs to file a class action lawsuit against this company.
I combed the support forums, tried a different power adapter, and finally called SlingMedia, where I was told my options were to either pay for a support call, send in the box for $100, or take advantage of their "upgrade" program to buy a new one. I enjoyed the ability to let my son watch "his" shows on my iPhone during a long overseas trip last June. None of these alternatives were acceptable to me, and I've resorted to using Roxio Streamer on my Netflix instead to take tv shows on the road. However, soon after returning home, the SB just stopped working. Power light came on, but no network light. It's clear that many people have had exactly the same problem, and it's an issue of poor construction. I would not buy another Singbox, and I would advise others not to waste their money as well.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that sometimes we have connectivity issues, but usually it works like a dream. A fantastic invention.
I've used this device several times for watching my NFL team when out of their broadcast area. It's well worth the cost. The only improvement would be the resolution. The picture can be a bit fuzzy at times.
This item was received very quickly in the mail. It was very simple to install, although I had to go out and purchase a HD connector it has been a pretty good product.
